Hello. Pleased to meet you. My name is Souji Seta. I live in the quiet and uneventful town of Inaba with my uncle, Dojima-san.

Well...

Until some rather questionable occurrences starting happening since my arrival. This "Midnight Channel"... and the murders that are carried out according to the weather.

With my new friends, we've taken it upon ourselves to save the victims who appear on the Midnight Channel with our Personas.

River Meeting

theprincelydetective:

>She mumbled “I-it isn’t funny..” under her breath. She knew that laugh had no harmful intentions behind it, but damn did it embarrass her just a little bit further. Naoto cleared her throat, regaining a more upright posture.

A secret admirer? Don’t be absurd… If someone wished to grab my attention they’re going about it completely wrong! I don’t even know who it is toying with me. If they need to get to me, why don’t they reveal themselves?

>Naoto could only sit and stare, disappointed. She’d honestly kind of hopes for something exciting in there. Now… Times when she received these strange items… was…

Um… It’s usually waiting for me at my house when I get home after school… Or as soon as I’m awake in the mornings. I could probably skip a day to see just who is leaving these… Though I am concerned.. Why do they have my address? I don’t give that out freely. Maybe I’m being pursued….?

You do raise a point.

> Souji put his hands in his pockets, feeling a bit at a loss himself. If it wasn’t an admirer, who could it be? He thought that could have been an option since Naoto was known as the “detective prince” and had a few “fans” at school… This seriously worried him. But there wasn’t anything particularly life threatening about these packages. This sender couldn’t be dangerous.

If that is the case, this person must know you personally… A friend, maybe? A neighbor? I doubt you would be pursued if they are simply sending these “mysteries”. Suppose we should ask around to see if anyone has noticed anything out of the ordinary?

River Meeting

theprincelydetective:

>Her cheeks slowly began to take on a pinker shade as she stared at the answer in silence. Was that really all there was to it…? Naoto over-thought yet another silly little riddle. But still… she couldn’t figure out the correlation between “a logical sentence” and this box. Maybe it was time to open it.

>The young detective slowly removed the tape and lifted the flaps to reveal….. Nothing. Nothing!? What in the world was this now? Was someone toying with her? Heaving a sigh, she was seriously beginning to get tired of these silly, random, and seemingly pointless “mysteries”.

I…. I don’t understand.. I think someone is trying to waste my time. I’ve been getting these a lot recently. No return address, no sender name, just strange notes and now a box of emptiness.

> Souji couldn’t help but laugh heartily at Naoto’s embarrassment. It wasn’t often that she showed this side of herself. As Naoto began opening the box, the teen leaned forward expectantly… And blinked at its empty contents. He was kind of glad that there wasn’t anything dangerous inside, at least.

How… strange. Do you think it might be a secret admirer of sorts? Maybe they are testing you…?

> He frowned. Naoto had asked for his help but asking her questions wasn’t going to get them anywhere. Time for a stakeout some recon.

Let’s see what this sender’s identity is. Is there a certain time you get these packages, Shirogane-san?

>Looking up from the note left with the mysterious box, Naoto could see the familiar face through a foggy puff of breath, a small smile forming. She wasn’t dressed as much as he was, a heavy jacket was the most she’d really bothered to put on with some pants and her usual hat. Grasping the small package, she stood to her feet to greet him.

Ah, there you are. I’m sorry if I might have interrupted anything, but I require your assistance…

>She looked down at her mystery object, and the paper. There was a riddle of sorts written in pen. It should have been no match for her, she was a detective. But sometimes even the little things that seem so simple can turn out to be the hardest to decipher. In all honestly, Naoto was a wee bit wary of opening the box without some company.. There was no sender address, no name, it simply showed up! “If you cross out all unnecessary letters in the following string of letters, a logical sentence will remain. Can you see it?

AALLLOUGNINCEACELSSSEANRYTELNETCTEERS

What was that supposed to mean? And just how was it significant to her….

> Smiling, Souji shook his head. His friends could never interrupt anything. Even if it was schoolwork, he knew he could easily catch up to it in no time at all. He did have one of the highest grades in his class.

Of course not, Shirogane-san. Just what is it that you need my help with…?

> He tilted his head to the side, his face clearly expressed befuddlement. Souji knew that Naoto was a clever and hard-working detective but to be stumped by a strange riddle? It was almost unlike her. Taking a quick look at the paper and thinking it over for a moment, Souji remembered seeing this kind of brain teaser before.

Hmm… I think I may know the answer. The riddle asks to cross out “all the unnecessary letters”. Don’t you think the string of letters resemble a sentence in the riddle itself?

> He takes a pen from his pocket and begins to cross out letters.

It also said “a logical sentence” will remain. Removing all the letters in ”all the unnecessary letters” from this reveals “a logical sentence”. Do you see it, Shirogane-san?

River Meeting

theprincelydetective:

SENPAI, I WANT 2 MEET @ THE RIVERBANK. Y/N? PLZ RESPOND.
 theprincelydetective

> Souji smiles at the sudden message on his phone. Was there something important Naoto wanted to talk about?

I will be at the riverbank in 10 minutes. See you there.

> Sitting down at a bench she smiled to her phone, pleased with the answer. It was a tiny bit embarrassing to ask for a meeting out of the blue, but there was something she found herself particularly stuck on… Souji was intelligent, surly he would be of assistance. A box rested in her lap, a brief letter in her free hand.

> It was slightly cold outside today - just as the forecast predicted. Souji wore extra layers of clothes to keep warm, along with a navy blue scarf that he bought at Tatsumi Textiles just last week. Ms. Tatsumi had remarked that there weren’t many people in the Shopping District lately. He guessed that it must have been because of the murders making them more cautious. He didn’t blame them. After all, no one knew who or where the culprit was. It simply made the atmosphere more tense than it was already. And Souji could feel his hands clench as he pondered who the next victim could be.

> When he reached Samegawa, he jogged over to the stairs leading to the river. He wondered if Naoto was dressed warmly as well, hoping he didn’t make her wait too long.

Shirogane-san!

[[SHOOT. I was meant to answer that publicly. Fail. OTL]]

tumblrbot said to me, WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST HUMAN MEMORY?

My earliest memory would have to be… the first time I learned how to make rice balls as a child. My mother would make the rice and I would make animal shapes out of them. You could say that she was insistent that I become knowledgeable on how to cook for myself if ever she wasn’t able to do so. Bringing out my creativity was a good way to keep my interest in cooking for all these years.

> He chuckles. Although the memory was a fond one, it also brought him a twinge of sadness. Those days, Souji lived in a place he could actually call “home”. He wasn’t travelling from relative to relative back then.

Nowadays, I am proud to say that I can make various dishes. If I am given the right ingredients. At times I find strange foods inside the refrigerator…? I don’t know where Dojima-san finds these.
